In our scientific research, we aim to generalize trends in innovative educational technologies implementation in universities based on theoretical analysis of the results of foreign research on the development of educational technologies, innovative changes in higher education and related trends, pedagogical practices created under the influence of new, unpredictable pandemic scenarios. The purpose of this article is to determine the trends in university development in the context of implementation of innovative teaching technologies. The transformation of higher education is carried out under the influence of changes in students generation of (Generation Z) and their educational needs, the rapid development of innovative technologies and the expansion of their educational opportunities. We study the existing contradictions and challenges according to the principle of ambivalence, continuity of "Tradition → Innovation". The results of the theoretical analysis will help to clarify the concept of "pedagogical innovations", understand the cycle of educational innovation development, trends and characteristics of the next-generation pedagogy. Generalized trends in the development of higher education were classified according to three broad aspects: online learning and teaching, blended learning and teaching, lifelong learning and teaching. The article substantiates the main characteristics of new generation pedagogy in the context of changes in higher education, in particular, summarizes five key characteristics of innovative pedagogy of the next generation, namely: Intelligent, Distributed, Engaging, Agile, and Situated. The results of the analysis of modern trends in innovative teaching technologies implementation will create the basis for modernizing universities and obtaining educational benefits from digital technologies, in particular, this will help policy makers and university managers in building strategies for the development of higher education institutions in the context of educational innovations. We hope to start a discussion about the development of the next-generation university.
